I’ve had my fair share of exterminator experiences while living in the 417.
I used to live in a house that had a cockroach problem. Before that, I had an ant problem.
At one point, I even had a pretty serious bed-bug issue in an apartment I was renting!
Bugs aren’t fun pests to deal with---whether they be moles, voles, roaches, fleas, bed bugs, or even termites!
But when the time comes to deal with them, the best way to do so is with one call to a qualified Springfield Exterminator who can get the job done fast and affordably.
But here’s the problem.
Not all Springfield exterminator companies are equal!
So how do you choose the best service for the job?
How do you avoid spending too much money on lower-quality services?
And perhaps most importantly: how can you be sure that the pest control company you hire will actually take care of your problem?
In my experience, there are 5 vital things to look for.
Here they are.
1. Does The Company Have A Good Reputation?
This is, first and foremost, the most important thing to consider when looking for a Springfield exterminator.
Have your family or friends ever heard of this company? Do you know anyone who has ever hired them before?
Advertisements can look pretty and sound convincing, but a great ad doesn’t necessarily mean that a company is going to do a good job!
I always like to check out online reviews of the pest control company to see if anyone has filed any complaints. I also like to ask for references.
A quality pest control company will not only be fine with providing you with references, but will be happy to do so and understand why you would want them!
So make sure to research the company and their reputation before slinging out any money for the service!
2. Do They Offer Transparent And Up Front Pricing Information?
I’m always leery of service-oriented businesses that don’t provide clear and up-front pricing.
And I am even leerier of companies that don’t offer a free quote!
Now, I understand if companies don’t always publish their prices right on their website, because sometimes there are a lot of variables to consider when factoring out the prices.
It’s sometimes easier (and makes more sense) to just deal with pricing by giving out free quotes after hearing about the problem.
But what I don’t like to see is when a company tries to say something like this:
“We aren’t sure how much it is going to cost until after we do the job.”
If a pest control company tries to use this line, I would head for the hills and look for someone else!
Pro Tip: Always get a free quote. If you can’t get a free quote, get out of Dodge---and find a different service!
3. Springfield Exterminators Should Always Be Licensed, Certified, And Insured
Being licensed and insured is really important for exterminators---even in Springfield Mo.
You can read an overview of the Missouri pesticide certification and licensing protocols here.
This is good information to be aware of before contacting a Springfield Exterminator.
Now, with that being said, any professional pest control business is already going to be on top of these legalities. So really, what you are looking out for are fly by night businesses that are trying to operate illegally or under the radar.
You should always ask about licensing, certification, and insurance prior to hiring an exterminator.
If you get the feeling that the outfit isn’t fully ‘up to code’ as they say---you may want to consider expanding your search!
4. How Long Have They Been In Business?
Learning the history of the company can make a big difference in determining whether or not they may be a good fit for your particular project.
Have they been trusted in the Springfield area for a number of years, or are they brand new?
One thing to keep in mind is that experience is usually your friend.
If the company cares about the trade and mostly keeps the same employees, then there is a very good chance that you’ll get a high level of professionalism if they’ve been operating for 5 or more years.
With that being said, sometimes the ‘new guys’ on the block can offer the best prices. You just need to make sure that you’re hiring someone who can do the job right!
Pro Tip: Check out the company website!
I am always cautious of pest control companies that don’t maintain a quality web presence.
5. Is The Company Safety-Conscious?
Safety is really important in the pest control industry because pesticides are chemicals---and they have the potential to be dangerous if they aren’t handled properly.
This really goes back to trust and good practices.
Does the company understand the dangers of handling pesticides and take care to do so responsibly?
Do they care about their customers and the quality of the work?
Are they willing to answer your questions when you express concerns?
Do they seem to understand the risks, and understand how to deploy proper safety precautions?
Making sure that your pest control provider is aware of the risks and managing them responsibly is a pretty big deal!
Good companies will make sure that they are covering this! So it is always a good thing to investigate and ask about it.
In Conclusion - Choosing The Proper Springfield Exterminators Doesn’t Have To Be Rocket Science
At the end of the day, it really comes down to common sense.
Ask a few questions, do a little research, and get a free quote.
If you put even a little bit of time and energy into your research, you will likely find that this information is easier to come across than you would ever have imagined!
Getting rid of pests is tough enough with the right company. So do your due diligence, and make the right choice.

Mole Removal Springfield MO
Moles suck. They make your yard, garden, and landscaping a mess.
They leave holes and burrows everywhere, and they have the potential to wreak havoc on your lawn and grass!
But, you don’t have to take it lying down.
Yes, you CAN get rid of moles!
And in this post, we are going to explore 5 expert tips for getting the job done the right way!
Let’s ‘dig in’ and get rid of the problem.
Figure Out If Moles Are The Real Culprit
YouTube Video: https://youtu.be/pTEzqB5wjcE
Moles are small subterranean mammals with velvety fur… and are often considered one of the most well-known garden pests in the United States!
Unfortunately for those of us who live in Springfield Missouri, moles are quite common here.
And if you have ever had a yard or a garden, you’ve probably learned to recognize their distinctive tunnels and mounds.
Though moles aren’t all bad, they do cause significant damage to lawns and gardens. They can damage the root systems of your plants, kill grass, dig-up your yard, and cause plenty of frustration!
Of course, moles are not the only type of creature that digs up the lawn!
So the first step to getting rid of moles is diagnosing the problem!
Gophers, voles, and moles can all do extensive damage to your lawn and garden.
But how do you know that moles are the culprit?
Moles leave mole-hills that are round, with the highest point of the mound being at the top!
This is different than the mounds left by gophers, which pile dirt more toward one side.
It is also different from voles, which don’t leave mounds! Voles leave exposed open holes with small networks of trails and tunnels.
Identifying mole mounds and tunnels is the easy part.
How do you get rid of them?
Here are 3 of our favorite DIY methods.
1. Set Traps

One method for getting rid of moles is to set traps.
Some people aren’t a huge fan of this method, because it requires a bit of prep work and practice.
Plus, you need to buy and set the traps.
With that being said, traps can be pretty effective for getting rid of moles - and are probably the best DIY method at your disposal.
Traps are also legal to use in the state of Missouri, as long as the moles being trapped are causing damage to your property.
2. Smoke Them Out With Road Flares
This is a less common method for getting rid of moles and gophers. But it can be effective.
To smoke the moles out, all you will need is a road flare and a screwdriver.
Use a screwdriver to find the tunnel. You may need to check around the mounds - but the tunnel should be pretty easy to find. Once your screwdriver goes into the ground easily - bingo!
Next, insert the non-burning end of the road flare down into the tunnel, to make sure that it will fit.
Once you’re sure that it will fit correctly, pull it back out.
Now light it, and push the burning end down into the tunnel.
Cover it with some dirt so that the smoke doesn’t escape. Now, you should be smoking the moles out!
Note: Do not attempt this method if there is a fire weather warning! It can start a grass fire if you aren’t careful.
That would do far more damage than the moles!
3. Mole-Killing Poisonous Earth Worms

If traps aren’t your thing, or if you don’t really like the idea of smoking the moles out - these Tomcat Mole Killer worms may be your next best bet.
You can buy a case of 10 worms for about $22.
The downside to this method is that it doesn’t always work. There is an art to setting the worms up, and it takes some time to figure out which tunnels are active and which ones aren’t.
But if you’re patient, determined, and willing to commit some time to the ordeal, planting the worms can be significantly effective.
Plus, with this method, you won’t have to bother with traps!
Unfortunately, Most Popular Natural Remedies Don’t Work For Moles
We’ve heard of people using cayenne pepper, mothballs, dish detergent, sticks of gum, and even ammonia to try to get rid of them!
To be really honest, even mole pellets, which are literally designed to get rid of moles, don’t work out very well.
Unfortunately, while these methods can make life a bit more difficult for your pesky local mole population, they do very little to actually solve the problem.
If you read about mole removal online, you may even hear that one way to remove moles is to shoot them!
In theory, this can work. But in practice, it rarely does the trick.
Moles are pretty resilient little pests! And honestly, the best way to get rid of them is to contact your local Springfield Mo. pest control service!
A professional pest removal service can diagnose the problem, figure out the best way to solve it, and get rid of your moles for good!
In Conclusion - Mole Removal In Springfield, Mo. Doesn’t Have To Be Rocket Science
